Rapid Structural Drying Course
Course Description
This course will be presented at insurance conferences and to individual insurance companies, agents and adjusters who have a desire to expand their knowledge and keep up with current industry trends.
The course will be presented in a classroom setting. It will be an open forum allowing for questions and answers as the class progresses. The class will be given in a Power Point format.
There will be equipment available for the hands on demonstration part of the class.
Course Objectives
- Overview of current state of the restoration industry – including the S500 IICRC Water Damage Standard and the S520 IICRC Standard & Reference Guide for Mold Remediation.
- A clear understanding of the industries current position on how to determine the proper amount of equipment for rapid structural drying.
- Knowledge of what surfaces might be restored instead of replaced.
- Review of costs related to replacing structural materials rather than restoring them.
- Review the principals of drying.
- Understanding of the different types of water damages and classifications of water damage.
- Psychrometry
- The science of drying
- Formulas for determining amount of drying equipment needed.
- Hands on demonstration of specialty extraction tools and drying equipment used for restoration.
- Review documentation of drying conditions and moisture mapping
- When biocides should be used.
